Learning in the Round is a process in which three sets of actors, Participants, Specialists and Facilitators, come together to share experiences and knowledge, explore practice and co-create understanding and knowledge. It involves the transformation of experience into knowledge which is practical and readily applicable.
The Learning in the Round approach involves an understand of learning and teaching as an integrated, interactive and holistic process. It evolved over 20 years as a result of working with mature adults, often from sectors with few or no clear professional pathways, whose principal concerns were around the viability and utility of knowledge gained. At the same time it reflects much that is accepted as current good practice in professional learning and development and, as such, has considerable potential for use in a wide range of settings from training to focused professional development provision.
